CPOSA was established to improve the senior leadership of the police service by the sharing of best practice, advising on legislative and regulatory matters and representing the interests of chief police officers and senior police staff in national matters.
The staff association aim to support and offer guidance to its members on matters relating to conditions of service, misconduct, employment and welfare issues of chief officer colleagues.
In light of the Parker review on ACPO, CPOSA sought to become professionally independent and registered as a company limited by guarantee on 16th January 2015, following the outcome of a members’ ballot.
The business of CPOSA is conducted through a committee, comprising of Officers of the Association and Regional / Other Representatives. We also contract a General Secretary, Gareth Wilson QPM, DL.
The Officers of the Association are supported by regional representative and representatives at each rank.
Officers of the Association are available to assist and advise the Chair in consideration of matters affecting the Association and act with delegated authority in respect of such matters which in the opinion of the Chair require immediate attention.
The Committee meets quarterly and Regional Representatives report the work of the Committee to their region when necessary.
