About CPOSA

CPOSA was established to improve the senior leadership of the police service by the sharing of best practice, advising on legislative and regulatory matters and representing the interests of chief police officers and senior police staff in national matters. The staff association aim to support and offer guidance to its members on matters relating to conditions of service and welfare of chief officer colleagues.

In light of the Parker review on ACPO, CPOSA sought to become professionally independent and registered as a company limited by guarantee on 16th January 2015, following the outcome of a members’ ballot. This change in structure removes the potential risk of unlimited personal liability for members.

The current Chair is Chief Constable John Robins of West Yorkshire Police and the company is governed by a committee consisting of a number of voluntary chief officers from across the UK.
